These two pictures are of a family friend. This boy is very jolly and loves acting in front of any and every camera in front of him. For the colorful photo, I tried to make him the center of attention and brightly lit. For the black and white photo, I still wanted to keep the boy's face a point of concentration by creating an entirely different background that looks plain.
These two pictures are of my beloved grandmother who wanted to show off her fabulous hairstyle which is not really that well shown in these two pictures. In the colorful photo, I wanted to enhance the curls and different shades within the hair that is colorful. In the black and white photo, I was more specific with her facial features and making her darker than her background.
These two pictures are the twin sister of the boy in the two first pictures. She is in the middle of laughing in both of these photos because she is kind of nervous to have her photo being taken. In the colorful photo, I created a different background than what was originally the background in order to enhance her against the original background. In the black and white photo, I tried to keep everything as natural as possible and actually did very little editing. I wanted to keep this second photo as close to its original so that I could capture a true smile which is very hard to achieve in many photos.
These two pictures are of a young girl at a park. Both of these photos were taken without any direction of where to be or to smile at all. Usually when told to smile, this child gives a silly grin that looks fake but this time, I have caught natural looks of this girl. In the colorful photo, I wanted to brighten her facial features to emphasis the bright and happy child within herself. In the black and white photo, I was emphasizing her general happiness as she is unknowingly looking into a camera taking her photo.
These two pictures are of me at different moments. The colorful photo I got really artsy with it and cut and pasted some of my original photo onto a different part of the newer photo. This was just an attempt to see what the outcome would be. The black and white photo is altered to create a distinctly black and grey tones on a portrait taken on easter.
